Everyone was a star at the dazzling AFS Centennial Reception & Gala Dinner. Representing 57 countries around the globe, the AFS Global Community came out to celebrate our 100th Anniversary on a beautiful November evening in Paris.
The AFS Global Intercultural Education Symposium was an amazing milestone in AFS history. On November 8, 2014, representatives of the AFS Global Community convened with luminaries in the world of peace and justice at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France to make a bold statement about the importance of global citizenship education and the role AFS has taken to advance this movement. The Symposium was held as part of the AFS Centennial Celebrations held in Paris in November. Over 1,000 people participated in the event.
Although this event was called “AFS Returnee Day,” more than 700 AFSers representing the entire AFS Global Community turned out to enjoy a day of reconnecting, conversations and sharing. AFS Returnees, spouses, partners, AFS Volunteers, Host Families, Sending Families, Staff, supporters and friends took part in the fun activities and formal discussions.
